Privacy Policy

Effective date and last updated: October 2, 2026

AfarTV connects people with live views of nature, volcanoes, space, and places around the world. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use afar.tv or interact with our website services.

In this policy, “AfarTV,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Grand Fir Network Inc., the operator of AfarTV, based in British Columbia, Canada. This policy applies to information we handle through afar.tv and related website features. Third-party platforms, including YouTube, payment services, and merchandise stores, handle information under their own privacy policies.

1. Information we collect

The information collected depends on which features you use:

  • Information you provide: your name, email address, and the contents of messages, enquiries, feedback, or other submissions you send us.
  • Account and preference information: where account features are available, profile details, account identifiers, saved favourites, and settings needed to provide those features.
  • Technical information: our website and hosting services may log your IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, referral information, access times, and errors for website operation, troubleshooting, and security.
  • Third-party information: where you use a connected service or authorize an integration, we may receive the information needed for that feature, as explained when you connect it and in section 4.
  • Transaction information: if you support AfarTV or purchase products through a linked service, we may receive transaction confirmations and contact or order details needed to respond to enquiries or fulfil applicable obligations. Payment providers process payment credentials under their own policies.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to operate and maintain the website; provide account, preference, and authorized connected features; answer enquiries; administer applicable orders or support transactions; diagnose problems; prevent misuse; and meet legal obligations.

If we offer email updates, we send promotional messages with the consent required by applicable law and provide a way to unsubscribe. We seek consent where required and limit collection, use, and disclosure to reasonable purposes. This policy does not replace consent required for particular activities.

3. Cookies and embedded content

Cookies and similar browser storage may be used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support website functionality. Where analytics or other optional technologies are used, they may help measure website use and improve performance. We obtain consent where required for optional cookies or tracking.

Our pages may include YouTube videos, livestreams, chat, or other third-party content. When an embed loads or you interact with it, the provider may receive your IP address, device and browser details, and interaction information, and may use cookies or similar technologies. YouTube may also display advertisements. These activities are governed by the provider’s policies and your settings with that provider.

You can manage cookies through your browser and any cookie controls offered on the website. Blocking cookies may affect sign-in, saved preferences, or embedded content. Browser cookie controls do not necessarily stop all information sent when third-party content loads.

For Google and YouTube content, see the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.

4. Google and YouTube connections

AfarTV uses YouTube services to present videos and livestreams. Where a feature uses YouTube API Services, data received from those services is used to provide that feature.

If a feature lets you connect a Google or YouTube account, access requires your authorization through Google. Depending on the feature and permissions you grant, information may include basic profile details, your email address, channel identifiers, and video or livestream information. An authorized channel-management feature may also handle video titles, descriptions, upload or broadcast status, and authorization tokens needed to perform the actions you approve. The authorization screen identifies the requested permissions. We do not ask for or receive your Google password.

We use connected account information only to provide the authorized features, maintain their security, and meet applicable obligations. Access is limited to personnel and service providers who need it for those purposes. We do not sell Google user data, use it for personalized advertising, or use it to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable.

You can revoke access through your Google account permissions. Revoking access stops further authorized access but does not itself delete information already held by AfarTV. To request deletion of stored connected account data, email [email protected]. We handle deletion and retention in accordance with applicable law and Google or YouTube requirements.

5. Sharing information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help host, secure, maintain, or support our services, to the extent needed for their work and subject to appropriate confidentiality and privacy obligations.
  • Services you choose to use, such as an authorized integration or a platform processing your payment, donation, or purchase.
  • Authorities or other parties where required or permitted by law, including to respond to lawful requests or protect people, rights, and service security.
  • A successor operator in a merger, acquisition, or business transfer, subject to applicable privacy protections and notice requirements.

Links to external websites do not make AfarTV responsible for their privacy practices. Review the relevant provider’s privacy policy before submitting information.

6. Livestreams and public content

Our cameras show landscapes, natural events, and public-facing locations. People, boats, vehicles, voices, or other identifying details may incidentally appear or be heard. Livestream footage may be recorded, archived, published as highlights, or licensed for media, educational, or research purposes. Public footage may also be copied or shared by viewers.

If you have a privacy concern about identifiable footage, contact us with the camera location, date, time, and relevant link. We will review the concern and consider appropriate action. We cannot control copies held independently by others.

Comments, usernames, and other material you post in public areas, including YouTube chat, may be visible to others. Avoid posting private or sensitive information in public channels.

7. Retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, resolving enquiries or disputes, security, and legal recordkeeping. Retention depends on the information and purpose; service logs, account records, correspondence, transaction records, and footage may have different retention periods. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to applicable requirements. Backup copies may remain until the normal backup cycle replaces them.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, and limit access to those who need it. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

8. International processing

AfarTV is based in Canada, but our hosting, content, and other service providers may process or store information in other countries. Information may therefore be subject to the laws and lawful access processes of those countries. We take reasonable steps to protect information handled on our behalf.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, or information about its use and disclosure. You may also withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, and raise a complaint about our privacy practices. Additional rights, such as objection, restriction, or portability, may apply in some jurisdictions.

Send requests to [email protected]. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity and understand your request. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary identity documents. We respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any lawful limitation on a request.

Withdrawing consent or deleting information needed for a feature may prevent us from continuing to provide that feature. Requests relating to information held independently by YouTube, Google, or another platform should also be directed to that provider. You may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or another relevant privacy authority, as applicable.

10. Children’s privacy

The website is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent, or below another age threshold where applicable law requires it. If you believe a child has provided personal information without the required consent, contact us so we can review and address it. This section concerns information submitted through website features; incidental appearances in footage are addressed in section 6.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, practices, or legal requirements. We will publish the revised policy here and update the date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice and obtain renewed consent where required by law or platform rules.
